Editorial Lust: Microfantasie x GQ Italia

This editorial is just great! The colors, the styling, the photography, just awesome all around. This is one of my favorite GQ spreads, by far. wow.

This is my favorite, it’s flawless.

This would definitely be my least favorite…that hat is awful.

Get Familiar: Collina Strada x Fall 2011

Collina Strada is the brainchild of L.A. fashion designer Hillary Taymour and since meeting her at a art show about 2 years ago, I have been closely watching her collections mature and evolve over the last few years. We struck up conversation after she complimented my glasses and I in turn complimented her awesome leather “plated” vest and bag…they were seriously some of the coolest items I had ever seen. She gave me her card, we talked outside and the rest is history. I haven’t spoken to her since then, but it’s pretty awesome to see her thrive. Below, is the Fall 2011 collection. [thanks Bryanna for jogging my memory.]

Now if only she made backpacks for guys…I’d be in heaven. C’mon Hillary, what’ya say?  ;)

all the pretty girls #10 : Anais Pouliot

Anais Pouliot is almost too cute for words, seriously. At the ripe age of 20, this Canadian has already been on 4 magazine covers and also landed the Louis Vuitton F/W 2011 campaign. She just too darn cute! With pouty lips and eyes that bleed innocence, she just makes anyone wanna run over and save her from anything that may come her way. And the image above, the cover of Acne Paper S/S 2011, is one of the best photos I’ve seen in a long time. This girl is young and moving fast — can’t wait to see her this fashion week backstage!

all the pretty girls #9: Arlenis Sosa

22 and Dominican, Arlenis Sosa is quite possibly one of the most beautiful woman I have come across in a long time. She has been the face of Lancôme since 2008 and her momentum hasn’t slowed one bit. Look at those lips, crazy. Just crazy. Such an elegant beauty, I hope to run into her this fashion week! And now that I’m thinking about it, I’m pretty sure I saw her and her mom on the L train a month or so ago, no joke… Oh and don’t even think about not looking all the way down til the lat image, I saved that one for last, it’s sooooo hot. haha.

Arlenis, how are you real??!?!

SHABANNNNG!

I WANT THAT (BACK!): WARRIORS OF RADNESS X SCRIBES SHORTS

So I had these shorts during SXSW and now I have no idea where they are / who stole them! haha. These are too awesome for me not to own, like wtf! I have loved Warriors of Radness for awhile now and this was one of the first things I ever owned from them. They retail for about $95 so yeah, who’s tryna replace em for me?

Gosh I miss em.

Tunez: Friends x Dum Dum Girls

Fuck! Summer’s coming to a close (kinda) and I haven’t snatched up a boo for the impending coldness set to strike the northeast – maybe i’m thinking too far ahead. Regardless, the 50′s/60′s girl group tinge of Friend Crush is nicely accompanying the remaining dog days of summer. Dig it.

Friends: Friend Crush

My love of Mazzy Star is unending. And anything that comes close to the wandering gaze of Fade Into You is something I’m going to dig, hands-down. Brooding and melancholic, Coming Down is the type of song you can’t not feel something when you listen. Dum Dum Girls’ sophomore effort Only In Dreams is set to release on September 27th.

I WANT THAT: FreshJive x Blunt Roll T

I mean, I don’t think I need to say why this tee is dope…no pun really. I say “dope” all the time. haha. I’d def get this tee and wash it like 5 or 6 times stretching it each time before the next wash. I like those uber soft tees that look like they used to belong to someone’s dad in college. almost see thru.. know what I mean? This tee paired with a big over shirt, denim or dark green or better yet, floral — KNOCK EM DEAD. The tee goes for about 30 bucks.

i guess call this an ode to my new found past time. ;) — i ain’t said nothin’!

::Trust::Music video for “Candy Walls”

So I *finally* finished up my degree at Oxford and will have more time from now on to post more regularly.

I’ll start off with this amazing song/video I’ve been borderline obsessed with lately by Canadian pop-synth outfit Trust (in part, at least, because I’ve spent the last few weeks of summer riding aimlessly around rural Indiana with my friend Chris on his motorcycle. However, as I’m very new to motorcycles, my facial expression probably conveyed less of their cool indifference and was more indicative of… you know, fear/terror).

Video director: Eva Michon,  Cinematographer: Daniel Voshart.

Interesting trivia: the “couple” featured in the video are actually the band members. (You would not expect that voice to come out of that guy!)

The word on the street is that these guys completely blew everyone away with their performance at SXSW, so I’ll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for tour dates and will endeavor to post them here.

Ladies, when will you all be in NYC so we can do a photoshoot? I’m serious.

TUNEZ: BEST COAST x ‘OUR DEAL’ x Video

http://www.dailymotion.com/videoxkbnmn

Came across this Best Coast video today for ‘Our Deal’ and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. Directed by Drew barrymore, which is cute and stuff and her direct interpretation of the Warriors is cute too. Haha. I mean my only complaint is that if you’ve seen the actual movie, then you almost don’t even wanna sit thru the video b/c nothing is ever going to be better than the original flick — but I do appreciate the homage, I do.

I mean, she coulda based the video off of ‘Grey Gardens’…that would have been interesting as hell.

Anyway, nice video, I like it. What do you think?

What you tokin’ girl? ;)

ART: Ostalgia x New Museum x [35mm]

This exhibition takes its title from the German word ostalgie, a term that emerged in the 1990s to describe a sense of longing and nostalgia for the era before the collapse of the Communist Bloc.

“Ostalgia” brings together the work of more than fifty artists from twenty countries across Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Republics. Many of the works offer a series of reportages on aspects of life and art under Communism and in the new post-Soviet countries.

Some of the preoccupations that unite the artists in “Ostalgia” are a romantic belief in the power of art as a transformative, almost curative agent; an obsession with language; the conception of a new aesthetic of the body; a fascination with the ruins of history as represented by monuments and architectural vestiges; and an understanding of artwork as a form of sentimental documentary that mediates between cultural pressures and individual anxieties.

Me and my friend Ekene.

This is Alberto waiting for his tacos to be done at the taco truck. — I think he’s probably mad at me now…maybe.

This is the aforementioned taco truck — they have amazing tostadas.

Go and check out Ostalgia @ the New Museum, it’s up until September 25th, 2011. It’s well worth a trip.

MAD DECENT Block Party 2011 x NYC x 35mm

^ that’s Sabel ya’ll. that’s my girl right there.

Saturday I was at the Mad Decent Block Party from start until finish. I nearly died at the end as my body was ceasing to function due to heat exhaustion. If you don’t believe me, ask Igor, Mr. DrivenByBoredom, who offered to photograph me if I started to vomit in the streets… Thanks Igor, but no thanks ;) .

The party was fun as hell and like 3 times as packed as the last time. B A N A N A S. It was also hot as hell, literally. But with all the PBR and Colt 45 Malt dranks going around, it was all good. All of the performances were pretty awesome too and when Zed’s Dead dropped the “Here Comes The Boom” track by DMX — I went bonkers. Recently, I have come to realize that DMX and I could probably be great friends and learn a lot from one another, don’t question it.

Maluca was on point, as always, and Gang Gang Dance really stole my heart, Lizzy is so great, a real world wonder. I can’t wait til the Philly one, enjoy yall.

That’s Lizzy in the middle, Maluca to the right.

Maluca Mala doh play no games.

Trouble Andrew always has the dopest gear — lemme get that hat son.

DJ Sega! Yes, Yes, Yes, winning all day. WIN.

sup Oscar — so about that hat… ;)   lemme borrow it.
