I mean, living in NYC you see some crazy shit, but apparently the real crazy stuff is happenin’ over yonder in Romania! Kids are gettin’ DOWN with the GET DOWN and havin’ kids! Straight up pregnant babies with babies. Lah-dah-mercy! To answer the querstion, “Where dey do dat at” ——> R O M A N I A.
Haha, I mean at 12 and 11 what the hell do you do with a baby?!?! I’m not even that good at ironing my own clothes and these young heauxs (“heaux” = “ho”) is gettin’ knocked up. Is it worth it? What are the incentives? Just awful.
Ha, I wonder what child support laws are like there….is she gettin a checkl? damn. this just boggles my mind. And babies are just a mess. A living mess. — Can’t Fuck Wit It.
And then this 23 year-old granny looks 55+ — stress related? Who smashed that? YIKES.

Gracie Carvalho is only 19 years old, but she has the poise of a woman twice her years. Looking at her one would never know is still a teenager (I know I didn’t)! Such a pretty girl.

These colors are seriously amazing. What a great skin tone she has.

I love her polaroid, she reminds me of Halle Berry in Gothika!

I love this girl, I can’t wait to see what she’ll get herself into this year, I mean she just appeared in the Tommy Hilfiger S/S 11 ad, so , yeah, this hottie is goin’ places.

I love Viktor & Rolf for this A/W collection! These guys can do literally anything! With what is possibly their most wearable collection yet, these two wow the socks off of Paris with their fashion week presentation! I mean, look at those red faces! These pleated and army-like pieces really take us for a ride. And all the lace — in love. These are my favorite looks from the collection.

Mad props to I Think You’re Swell founder and #1 boss hog, Antwan Duncan, as he was named an “internet style icon” by, Tel Aviv based, Zooz Magazine. So, I guess this kid really does have swag or steez (i’m still struggling to understand what those concepts are)? If you really want to see what this kid is up to fashion wise, head over to his lookbook. Otherwise, you can see the entire issue here, skip to pages 18 and 19 for the feature. Also, to any of you guys who went to hebrew school and/or can send me a translation, it’d be much appreciated.

Last week we caught up with purveyors of pop, Darwin Deez. Brooklynite, by way of Wesleyan, Darwin Smith played to a sold out show in Philadelphia. Deez is unabashedly pop, with all the shimmering hand claps you might expect [+ more]. Grab their self-titled debut album now, and for a different side of Darwin, grab his rap mixtape here (yes, you read that right). It’s composed entirely of Willy Wonka samples.

Rye Rye just released her latest mixtape, Ryeot PowRR. And with DJ Sega in as the role of producer you’ve got 18 tracks of hyper Bmore Club shuffle. Rye Rye leaves no stone unturned, taking on some of pops biggest hits of the past year or two including: Miley Cyrus (lulz), Willow Smith, Ke$ha (lulz x2), and Ciara. But it isn’t all bubble gum on Ryeot PowRR. Rye Rye brings the heat too, just take note from mixtape opening line, “Ain’t nobody fuckin’ with a side bitch, here.”

Last night was the Lynda Benglis opening at New Museum and excitement was in the air…well, cold cold air was in the air, but in the museum itself, “excitement” was in the air! Lynda Benglis’ work is unlike the work of many of the exhibitions I have been to in the past. Her work is sooo varied and touches almost all aspects of art. It’s really an exhibit that everyone can find something to either relate to and enjoy. From the abstract to the provocative and erotic — Lynda Benglis has it all.

After the unexpected deaths of both his sister and father, Geographer founder Michael Deni left his home in New Jersey and trekked west, where he found himself in San Francisco. There he found cellist, Nathan Blaz and drummer, Brian Ostreicher and formed 8-bit synth trio, Geographer. Their brand of angelic vocals, synth-pop, and timely cello lines is hard to resist. Do check out their most recent EP, Animal Shapes, you won’t be sorry you did.

“it’s a natural fact…there’s no turning back”
So I’m sure a lot of you have been hearing about, or have seen Blue Valentine. You know the one that premiered at Sundance with the score by Grizzly Bear (lulz). I haven’t seen it, but I do really like this summation: “a horror movie for those in relationships.” Anywho, the film features a true gem, You and Me — an undiscovered rehearsal tape from an estate sale in Columbus, Ohio a few years ago. Little is known except that it was labeled: Penny and the Quarters and is believed to have been recorded at Columbus’ Harmonic Sounds studio in the early 1970s. Does it get anymore magical?

Last week, we caught a glimpse of rising San Franciso quintet Young Prisms. Although their sound is rooted in psychedelic, beach-pop, YP prefers to leave the hooks at home, instead favoring complexity and confusion — and this was definitely true of their live show. You can pick up their full length debut, Friends For Now, out on Kanine now.

The man himself, Todd English.
The opening party of Ember Room was seriously amazing! The food was on point and the Bombay Sapphire drinks were seriously stellar. I’m not a big gin drinker at all, in fact I never drink it, but I decided since it was supposed to be paired with the Asian style bbq that I would give it a go — holy moly I’m glad I did. Ha. I brought my roommate Liz along with me for the ride (a true gin drinker) and she too was thoroughly impressed.
