Hood by Air took everyone by surprise with a bold runway show for New York Fashion Week at Milk Studios yesterday.  I showed up with my dude Caleb just in time to catch some dope a$$, rachet a$$, trill a$$ backstage footage (see what I shot for BULLETT Magazine here) — I’m talkin’ nails did, hair did, everything done did.

I loved all the leather pieces and I especially love how the looks were paired with such sole heavy and bulky boots — Shanye Oliver, the collections designer, uses such  boots as a staple in his daily look and pulls it off like literally no one else. So dope.

The video projections, the amazing music, the smoke machine all set the scene for a very forward and future show.

Sidenote: The smoke machine killed the perfect shot I had of A$ap Rocky as he walked the runway – cameras do NOT like smoke machines!

Lighting smoke bombs indoor isn’t that bad, except that they kinda smell like shit. But they are fun, so I say do it — but only under the adult supervision. Yeah, gotta cover myself so no idiots claim I convinced them to do anything. lol.

Ken and I are on a little road trip. We have been traveling since the end of Art Basel Miami Beach and headed to ??? I can’t tell you because I don’t want you all in my business. Above are Georgia and Roxanne. We lit smoke bombs in this warehouse. It was fun!

I meant to blog this track a minute ago, but being in Texas on that vacation tip has made me lazy and all that. Anyway, I’m doing it now so that’s all that matters right? — right!

This shit is smooth and down south as shit — what else could i ask for? It makes you just wanna roll up and drink a Colt45 and just chill. I’m obsessed with chopped and screwed anything and while this isn’t the chopped and screwed version, it still gets me to where I wanna be.

I don’t actually remember how Xavier, errm, “GrandeMarshall” and I became internet friends, but he has become one of my favorite folks on Twitter and Tumblr. He’s funny as hell and says all the shit I’d like to be saying. And he likes hood shit just as much as I do. Oh yeah and he’s got a blog too — this kid is everywhere.

We plan a meet up soon, I assume it will be filled with jokes, dranks, weed smoke and bitches and maybe some food — he seems to take photos of his food as much as I do.

Anyway, bump the track in your car, in your bathroom and if you’re the manager of a McDonald’s bump it in your restaurant — I assure you, it’ll get stuck in your head, the beat is on point.

It’s always nice to run into people that you actually like at festivals and shit — it’s why I was so stoked to run into Naeem, I mean, Spank Rock during Day one of Fun Fun Fun Fest. Naeem has always been a nice dude and is also pretty fuckin’ funny. Above is a photo of him performing later in the day, but before that we were talking about where he should get his Sailor Jerry tattoo placed. I saw that he ended up getting the slightly raunchier one, nice. Haha. Oh, and this was also one of the first times that I got to see Johnny Nelson play for such a large crowd, it was dope.

Ian and I saw a lot of bands and ate tons of free snacks and stuff — a good ass day. I had BBQ ribs, Ian had a nice veggie sandwich.. twas nice. We smoked a j*int and shared it with a *staff* member of the festival and went about our way. Check out the rest of the images and be on the look out for the 35mm updates from the festival.

Oh yeah I almost forgot, a few times while hanging out backstage like the bosses that Ian and I have come to be we kept seeing Ryan Gosling running around in sunglasses — we don’t know what exactly was going on, but he was everywhere. Funny when the security and stage guards had no idea who he was and wouldn’t let him do anything.

We tried to see Public Enemy but they were only allowing their own photographers shoot em — whatever. and apparently Danzig was doing the same — again, whatever. lol.

Rad day. Active Child tomorrow. It’s all I care about, seriously.

Last night was the Lynda Benglis opening at New Museum and excitement was in the air…well, cold cold air was in the air, but in the museum itself, “excitement” was in the air! Lynda Benglis’ work is unlike the work of many of the exhibitions I have been to in the past. Her work is sooo varied and touches almost all aspects of art. It’s really an exhibit that everyone can find something to either relate to and enjoy. From the abstract to the provocative and erotic — Lynda Benglis has it all.

Willow Smith has been straight killin’ em with her single “Whip My Hair” and now she has released the official video and holy smokes, it’s one of the illest video I have seen in a minute — a long minute. I first heard the track on the radio on our drive back from Modi’s Birthday Bash in D.C. and was immediately obsessed and eager to figure out who it was! Then I find out it’s a 9-year-old. Jesus. Haha. I mean I was hype as hell in that car dancing to this song. Anyway — The video is below. Enjoy it cuz it’s bomb! And for anyone in Rihanna’s camp who happens to come across this –uhh, please take notes and give Rihanna the contact info to whomever directed this video for Willow. PLEASE.
