Hood by Air took everyone by surprise with a bold runway show for New York Fashion Week at Milk Studios yesterday.  I showed up with my dude Caleb just in time to catch some dope a$$, rachet a$$, trill a$$ backstage footage (see what I shot for BULLETT Magazine here) — I’m talkin’ nails did, hair did, everything done did.

I loved all the leather pieces and I especially love how the looks were paired with such sole heavy and bulky boots — Shanye Oliver, the collections designer, uses such  boots as a staple in his daily look and pulls it off like literally no one else. So dope.

The video projections, the amazing music, the smoke machine all set the scene for a very forward and future show.

Sidenote: The smoke machine killed the perfect shot I had of A$ap Rocky as he walked the runway – cameras do NOT like smoke machines!

So far this week has been somewhat of a fucking nightmare. My job has been stressful as hell, I’m still tired as shit from raging so hard during SXSW (so worth it), and I’m getting fat (as hell, but I think I’m still happy, I think).

Sighs. Complaining is so easy, damn, it sucks. Haha. Anyway, here’s some shit I’m into this week.

1. Death From Above 1979. Again, DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979! I don’t remember the last time I was  this stoked about a band performing. Actually I do remember, it was when I got to see Bright Eyes perform for the first time AND when I got to see Erykah Badu perform at Good Units…talk about some heavenly experiences. OH SHIT and don’t let me forget Cam’ron’s album release party — on that HOOD shit. Haha. Sorry for the tangent, back to DFA1979. The show was fucking bananas, I have the sickest polaroids from it, which I ‘ll be scanning soon…and also, I photographed it for Interview Magazine. That night was a dream come true. Kids tore down the fences surrounding the venue to get in, cops came atop horseback and corralled em (like sheep, lmao) and then they tased and maced em, awful. Ha, I was pined to the front of the stage by the rushing crowd all the while screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs. i’m getting chills just thinking about it. Sebastien has some fucking pipes on him and Jesse can rip the hell out of a guitar.

2. I like the fact that the lil baby on the cover of Biggie’s album was found. Haha. I unno, I’m not really a Biggie fan or anything, but I think that this is a heartwarming lil’ tidbit goin’ on in the news…sadly, the dude only got $150.00 for it — LOL. Ni99a got hosed! I mean, I guess it’s pretty obvious his momma wasn’t a businesswoman like my girl Cadillac Kimberly. Lol. Damn I love that ho. haha. <3

3. I don’t know how this small obsession started but I’m really feeling all things studded now. Ha. At SXSW I studded a pair of Converse, then I spent an hour and a half studding another pair while taking pictures and chillin’ in the gifting suite. The only problem I see with studding things/wearing studded things is that it attracts attention and TALKERS! Random ass people come up to me now, more so than ever and just wanna talk about my fuckin’ shoes. It’s like, no they weren’t expensive, no I’m not famous and NO this does not mean I’m in a band. Lol, they’re just shoes folks, keep it movin’.

4. I love polaroid cameras, everyone knows this, but there is just something about the original polaroid camera (I consider the polaroid 600 to be the original) that i just love. The boxy shape, the way the film pops out, everything. While thirsting with Ian (yeah we’re hipsters) in Austin we cam across a pack of film and a polaroid camera — each worked, WOOT! We took photos of one another with it and then later that night I shot images of DFA1979 with it. In love with it now, like the way a momma loves a baby. Weird, but only God can judge me.

Nothing takes away the empty feeling in the bottom of your belly created by all the free booze you just drank for 4 or 5 hours like the sweet sweet taste of oral victory that is Veselka. Cot damn, I love this place and whenever I am hungry late night it is all I want — so naturally I take my friends there. They know my face, they know my name and the wait is never long for us — My own little heaven. (located on the corner of 2nd ave and 9th street)

After we left the Jeremy Scott after party we all hopped a cab to Veselka to satisfy that burning hunger inside us all.  Above is what Natalia Kills decided to order — fruit and yogurt. LOL, we were all like, “Mami, you jokin’ right?!” PFFF! Haha. nah, lemme stop, lol, she is a nice girl and we had all seen her perform earlier that night at The Box –and she KILLED it.

LOL at Racheal eyeballing that food like a street kid — haha, on that Aladdin steez!

Oh you already know — Dis alll me! So stop playin’. That bacon is soo damn good that I can see myself getting into a fight over it if someone tried to grab a piece sans permission. Dead ass.

This was Kesh’s plate. Yeah, you think it’s hella classy and all pretty and stuff then you lift those eggs up and BAM — STR8 HOOD with some corned beef hash! HAHAHAHAH. Too funny. Not to mention she was also drying her wet bra on the table behind us, I have an instant picture of it somewhere.

Rachael kept it classic with some of the most delicious buttermilk pancakes I have ever had. She did get beasted though, she couldn’t even finish, I think that’s the L.A. girl in her. Haha. She just moved here, so I plan to break her in and show her what the city is all about — after all, “I run tings”.

After paying for the food, me and the boys knew our broke asses weren’t cabbin’ it like the girls, so we walked the streets to the L train and found that beautiful piece of reading material you see above. Has anyone ever read “Summer of Sodom”?

Of course on the way to the train we find somebody that has just lost his damn mind and senses — the boys decided to join him, make him feel at home. Hospitality folks, that’s what it’s all about!

Upon closer inspection of his hand, I realized that he had lost more than just his mind that night, he had also lost the contents of his stomach…sighs. Trippin’ ni99as is trippin’.

Last night after being at work for a long time and stuff I headed over to LOVE.
Mz Streamz and Rakim were slated to spit a little something, something and I
was pretty excited.

Aaron had been telling about his artist, Mz Streamz, for quite sometime so I was
eager to get the chance to see her in the flesh. When I got there, Soyuza informed
me that Mz Streamz had just started and when I got downstairs there was a huddled
mass around her that I had to break thru in order to see her “hot fire”.

Mz Streamz is raw, there’s really no denying it — and she’s only like 19! INSANE.
Her freestyles are fuckin’ dope as hell and pretty fuckin’ clever. Haha. She had
me bobbin’ my head and laughin’ with the lot of em. Everyone knows, well my
real friends, that I love nasty dirty ghetto ass hip hop and seeing Mz Streamz took
me pretty close to where I would like to myself on most late nights.

With Aaron  Lacrate on the ones & twos pumpin’ out bass and beats all Mz Streamz had to do was deliver some sick shit for people to go home and talk about; She succeeded. I took some 35mm of Mz Streamz outside that I’m pretty excited to see, I just have to drop off the film later today…

Tonight I watched Boyz in the Hood for the first time ever. I know what you’re all sayin’…”late to the party” haha, I swear it wasn’t my fault; my moms was trippin’. Anyway, the movie was fantastic, I mean wow! I can’t believe I am just now seeing this movie. It’s like when I heard that Cassie song, Me & You for the first time late last year and I thought it had just come out…so ridiculous. I’m mad late on this one. Cam’ron – Crime Pays

This cd is dope. Cam’ron is comin’ at us hard (no homo). The tracks are fresh, the featured artists are really awesome and I would like to see them working on more stuff with Cam in the future. I have put my favorite tracks in bold, which tracks do you like? All in all I would give this cd a solid 8 out of 10; several of the tracks are so catchy I’ve already listened to them about 10 times each. The album is crack, Cam is on fire and shit, who is Byrd Lady, that bitch is dope. She kills every track she is on. Enjoy this, you don’t even have a choice.  Free download at the bottom.

1. Crime Pays (Intro.) – “Dada Doh” hell yeah. Not sure what that interjection means, but it has been in head for afew days now. Pretty strong intro, with mentions of dipset, I am immediately excited.

2. Cookin’ Up – Cam is confident, this track reminds me of something that would be on Purple Haze and that’s a good thing. This track sets a precident for tracks to follow. Favorite line:  “I tell her bitch get ova here, like Scorpion”

3. Where I Know You From – I like this song, feels like a track that would be played a hiphop club for a cool down. The beat is tight and its def a song you can grind too. Haha. I Like this. Favorite line – “Why you think the whole hood coroded, he Tony the Tiger, yeah he like to sugar coat it”

4. Fuck Cam #1 (skit) – LOL.

5. Never Ever – A fun track, not my favorite, but the beat is definitely fun. I would wash dishes to this. I could see this song having a real sexy music video..girls washing cars in bikinis, working at ice cream shops and or ice cream trucks. Ha, the girl that sings on the track sounds like a youngin’ and it gives the song a really playful feeling.. “Turn yayo to Fettatuni Alfredo”

6. Curve – The jokes in the beginning of this song are priceless. Hahaha. Infectious repeating beat, and nice flow. I love the sample in the background too, not sure what it’s from. I like this song too, can see me dancing to it a lot. I like all the lines, haha. “Curve nigga, Curve trick” Curve meaning to get the hell outta my face. LOL.

7. Silky (No Homo) – DAMN! now this is what I’m talking about. I could listen to this song on repeat. Haha. The sample, the beat, Cam’s voice over the track, this shit it hot.  “Play with me and you’ll get your lawn mowed” this needs to be a single. “Got damn girl, yo legs long; she went down, she head strong”

8. Get it in Ohio – You already know. The bass hits soo hard. Hell yeah, this reminds me of old school Cam’ron. Shit feels like you could just bump it in your car and cruise. So smooth. So smart to have released this as a single. The chorus is so dope. Makes me wanna visit 140th and Lenox for sure.

9. Who – “Only gotta say two words, SWALLOW IT”, this song definitely had me doing the bounce on the train. Haha. References to Halle Berry, the Wire, Doublemint, like how can he go wrong? This song kinda reminds me of “Shake” from Purple Haze and yeah, that’s a good thing. “You Ray Charles, yall ni99as been blind.”

10. Grease (Skit) – LOL.

11. You Know What’s Up Ft. C.O. And Sky-Lyn – Okay, so this is like the first song on the album I don’t like. it’s too corny. Sounds like filler if you ask me, both featured artists are hardly “artists”. The dude C.O. cannot rap and Sky-Lyn can NOT sing at all.Cam delivers the only talent in the song, no surprise, haha. His line:  “Ya girl an ex dust junkie, but a ‘bah-dunky’; keepin’ it just funky, she  butt monkey. Yeah true blue, who knew, you knew, fuck her in her ass, started to leak Yoo-hoo” too funny.

12. Spend the Night -  AHHHH! one of the best. This song is so addictive, has been on repeat since I got the album. The bass, the melody, all the lines, Cam’ron singin’, damn. So great. When you hear this song you will definitely give it a second listen immediately, I’ll prolly make it a ringtone today. Haha. Favorite line , hmm, choosing one is so hard because I get so wrapped up in the song everytime I try to pick one…  this one is amazing.. “Get ya mouth wet, you the outlet; you got to plug me”

13. Fuck Cam #2 (Skit) – LOL. who wears pink?

14.  Woo Hoo Ft. Byrd Lady And 40 Cal – first and foremost, Byrd Lady is crazy dope. I always love bitches that can rap, shit is so sexy. Haha, everyone knows I need a hood ass chick, for real. Haha. 40 Cal was a good choice as a featured on this track, his quick flow goes well with the melody and he’s nasty and funny.

15. Chalupa – “Call my block gravel, it’s mad rocks” nice tune, good beat. This is definitely something to nod your head to. Chea.

16. Cookies-N-Apple Juice Ft. Skitzo And Byrd Lady – This is definitely the track I listen to the most often, shit gives me chills. Haha. Again, BYRD LADY! “Classy yet I get nasty, nasty but never trashy, bright light, yes bitch I’m flashy, no you will never pass me” ——-> the way she says that shit, damn. I need a hood chick, for real. Cam, Byrd Lady, Skitzo, all on point. Damn, this song is hot. (listened to this song 3 times during this review. haha) Oh and the Soulja Boy sample, oh so fly!

17. My Job – Solid track, Cam’ sounds like he’s havin’ fun. The song is really summertime I would say. It’s an easy listen, Cam’s lyrics have matured and I feel like he’s really doing what he wants to do. Not that he wasn’t all the time, lol, I mean, he is Cam’ron. Hmm, the background music is awesome, I wonder if it’s a sampling..if so I would like to hear the original track.

18. Homicide – “Nigga said my car is the same color as flouride, what the fuck color is flouride nigga” I’m lovin’ the bass in this track. This track goes pretty hard, I must say, kinda reminds me of “Get em’ Girls”
Cam’ron just keeps it comin and I ain’t hatin’ him for it. Solid track, definitely something I could everyone bumpin’.

19. Fuck Cam #3 (Skit) – LOL.

20. Got It For Cheap Ft. Skitzo – This song has a lot going on, haha, it’s kinda hard to actually even pay attention to anything specific. Some good lines though, one being “She like to deep throat, me I call it lollygag”
and another being “casualities, actually, but I move casually”. I dunno, I hate the dude that us singin’ on the track, yikes, they shoulda got Byrd Lady, haha.

21. Get It Get It – i love the fairytale like music that opens this track..and then the bass that just drops and shits on all of us. Haha. Like this shit, a slow track, Cam’ does these well. Good track.

22. Bottom of the Pussy – Umm..yeah, lol, this song is so awkward. haha, I actually like the flow he’s giving, the chorus just makes it absolutely impossible to play aloud. Haha. This song features some of the best lines on the album. Great line: “When I hit that spot why you ain’t tell me nothing, I swear to God though, i thought it was your belly button”

23. Fuck Cam #4 (Skit) – LOL.
