You Are What You Eat: Hong Bo Restaurant and Dumpling House (Philly)
Chris and I like to eat, a lot. And we are always finding an excuse to eat out or make some bangin’ a$$ eats. This time (last weekend) we decided to hit up this dumpling house that we’d passed many times before. There is usually a ton of people in the place and a ton of steam everywhere, but this night the place was empty…that is with the exception of us and this little girl…
We had seen her on our way to the dumpling spot barreling down the sidewalk on a scooter with no regard for anyone she might be endangering — I liked that. When we finally made it to the restaurant, we sat down and in she came. I am obsessed with people and watching them and recounting the little things they do and their facial expressions, etc…this little girl fascinated me for some reason…
I don’t look “entertained” but I am.
Back to the little girl in the restaurant…I’m not sure if she wanted her photo taken or not, but she ran outta there in a hurry, or at lest tried, when she saw the flash of the camera! Haha. So funny. She’s so cute.
Chris is quite possibly the fastest eater I have encountered thus far in my life. Sharing food with him is more like him getting 70% of a meal and you the remainder of 30%.
The television caught my attention.
Haha, so after I noticed that the flash was startling her, I started stealthily taking her photo with no flash — this camera is super quiet…I love 35mm! LOL, but she was on to me…this is her bolting when she caught on..
Chris trying to be a business man.
Chris being a grandpa grandma.
Number the Stars.
Haha, she was def onto me in this one. Haha, oh yeah, she kept telling on me to her parents who ran the joint! Haha, none of it was in English, but it was pretty obvious. Haha, I couldn’t stop laughing!
Here is her work station in the dumpling house. I wonder how many hours she spends here a week? I wonder what her favorite thing to do in her office is..dolls? drawing? coloring? hmm.
The dumplings were hella good. I like the Pork & Vegetable ones more than the Shrimp & Green Onion, but Chris feels the opposite. Go there and see for yourself — and if you see the little one, tell her I said hello.

saw this little girl on sunday night!! was walking from greyhound station to yakitori boy for dinner, and first a man walked by with his hand up his shirt and gut hanging out over his pants, mumbling to himself angrily, then this little girl & her scooter flew past me, my bf and his roommate. we hesitated, considering going to stop her before she got near aggressive crazy gut guy, but by then she’d already turned around.
small world!
