“this whole trip started because i wanted to get strawberries” – Maria Sharpe

I know, I know, it’s been awhile. A long ass while; sorry, I’ve been busy and lazy.

Anyway, earlier today (Thursday, yeah I’m still awake) I met up with Maria and her friend Laura at Westville (East 11th and Ave A) and we ate a bunch of great food.

Here are some of our dishes:

I got the Cobb Salad, (pictured above) dang, it was so delicious. I was a little bummed that there was no hard-boiled egg in it…maybe that’s just the Larry David in me. haha. I hope you guys understand that reference. But the salad was really great though even without the egg and the avocado was so fresh. I love a good avocado.

This is Maria’s gazpacho soup. She said it was pretty tasty and unlike any gazpacho she had ever had. I remarked on how I had never seen it with avocado in it — she agreed with my comment, but said it added a nice texture. I would have tried it, but I am NOT a tomato person AT ALL.

This is Laura’s meal. That’s beet soup and some grilled asparagus. I didn’t try the beet soup, btu I did try some of the asparagus and it was grilled perfectly! It made my pee smell, just sayin’.

After lunch Maria and I continued our journey and walked over to Union Sq./Flatiron and went to a yoga studio to check it out and then to J.Crew where we spent money we didn’t have. NYC is like that, one minute you’re trying to save and the next minute you’re pouring out your wallet. Haha. After J.Crew she dragged me to Anthropologie so she could look at more stuff; that place sprays so much stuff in the air, it was giving me a headache. We left there and walked down to Soho, I tried some stuff on at TopShop, ehh, that place is seriously hit or miss AND I think they stopped carrying the boxer briefs — that makes me sad.

We decided we were hungry later on so we went down to Nolita to get some grubs. We stumbled upon a nice little place that serves Thai food called Lovely Day (196 Elizabeth Street, New York, NY) and were most satisfied with our meals. The hot sauce there is bangin’, we ate so much of it and contemplated taking the jar of it home, but we didn’t. We asked the guy what kinda sauce it was and he told us it was just sriracha sauce…he was def pulling our legs because we’ve both had that sauce before and this was NOT it…

hmm, that’s all.

later nerds,

antwan.
